The day is young, and they sat and watched the snowfall like falling stars on a clear night. You know that feeling you have when you see snow for the fist time, that’s how they felt; a sudden feeling of excitement overpowered them.
“Let’s go outside and build a snowman.” said Cassandra. Ali looked out the window happily and smiled like she wanted it to snow forever.
“OK!” she said. The cold air rushed against the girl’s cheeks and turned their noses red. They began picking up snow and throwing it at one another, their laughter surrounded them. The day went on but neither one of the girls showed any interest in going inside. Finally Cassandra surrendered to the cold and suggested they go inside. But Ali refused. “C’mon, Ali its freezing and we’ve been playing all day.”
Ali gave Cassandra an angry look, “If you want to go inside then go right ahead.” Confused and upset Cassandra left her friend in the endless falling snow. After another 45 minutes of waiting, Cassandra began to worry about Ali. She got up put on her coat and went back outside. The cold night air breezed and hit Cassandra’s face; she shivered and began looking for her friend.
“Ali… ALI?”
She called but there was no reply. She walked all around the house but her friend was nowhere to be seen. Cassandra walked down the road to the elementary school playground. There she saw Ali curled up by the swing set. Cassandra ran to her friend.
“Ali are you alright…? There was no reply. Cassandra ran to the closest house and cried for help and was able to save Ali in time. The next few days Ali who is now sick remained inside and listened to the winter breeze and stared out the small window watching the snowfall on another cold night.

good story emmy! i wont EVER leave you in the snow. =]
Great last line!
You've captured the essence of Hemingway here. His simple yet clear despcriptions of setting, the clipped dialogue, the loaded subtext. Well done!
